HOW TO SHORTEN A LINK

Some asked me recently; ‘Sandra, how come our links are different from others? It looks weird!’, and I laughed. Actually I was on the move and needed to send her 2 links via 2go,couldn’t copy and paste.

Here’s what I needed to send:

I sent these instead,

1.           http://zapit.nu/1buzz

2.          http://zapit.nu/Ebook

 That’s what brought about the question,she wanted to know how I did it.

Knowing  the right question is sometimes 30% of the answer.

The question is how do I shorten a link?

Well, its very easy;piece of cake infact!

There are several sites that render this service for free

Tinyurl. for example has been around since January 2002, others are goo.gl, bitly, notlong, tweetl for twitter links, zapit. etc

Some keep statistics on number of clicks you get on the shortened links and allow you customize your links e.g zapit.nu

Simply visit any of the above sites;you can search for others ,copy and paste your links on the field provided and click on shorten or customize it and shorten as the case may be.

That’s it, and that snaky long link becomes short enough for you to type by heart.
